California-based rock group Lukas Nelson and Promise Of The Real– sometimes referred to as POTR – consisting of Lukas Nelson (vocals/guitar), Anthony Logerfo (drums), Corey McCormick (bass), and Tato Melgar (percussion) bring, in their own words, a mix of cowboy hippie surf rock with influences from idols Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, and Willie Nelson, Lukas’ father. Their 2009 debut EP Brando’s Paradise sent them on a trajectory of non-stop touring and recording. They have opened for Willie Nelson and B.B. King, headlined numerous festivals such as Farm Aid, Lollopalooza and iTunes Festival, made US national TV appearances on The Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman, and released six albums in five years including 2010’s debut Promise Of The Real, Wasted, and live album Live Endings. In 2015, the band toured with Neil Young and cooperated on his album The Monsanto Years. A new album, Something Real, is due for release in February 2016. When Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real play, it’s exciting, visceral and, above all, it’s real.
