Samantha Fish, Toronto Cannon to 3rd Curacao International BlueSeas Festival

Curaçao International BlueSeas Festival is happy to announce the first names for its 3rd edition, set to take place in the streets of Pietermaai District on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 March 2018. The free street festival returns after a one-year hiatus with more young and internationally recognized talent that is ‘keeping the blues alive’. Already confirmed for Friday 30 March are Samantha Fish and Kenny Neal. Danielle Nicole and Toronzo Cannon will perform on Saturday 31 March. More names will be announced shortly together with the timetable and locations.

Powerful blues-rock guitarist Samantha Fish returns to the festival after having wowed the audience with her first performance at BlueSeas in 2016. Since then, she has released two more albums Chills & Fever, which achieved top 10 status in the Billboard Blues charts, and studio album Belle of the West which further established Fish as a prominent presence in the blues community.

Born in New Orleans and raised in Baton Rouge, swamp-blues multi-instrumentalist Kenny Neal perfectly combines his Louisiana roots with a sophisticated Chicago/Memphis soul approach. His 2016 release, Bloodline, was nominated for a 2017 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album and also picked up Blues Music Awards for Best Contemporary Blues Male Artist and Best Contemporary Blues Album.

Kansas City-born and raised blues singer-songwriter and bass player Danielle Nicole grew up playing the blues. Her distinctive, inventive bass work resulted in her becoming the first woman to win the Blues Foundation’s 2014 Blues Music Award for Best Instrumentalist: Bass. After years of touring with family band Trampled Under Foot, she stepped out on her own with debut album Wolf Den in 2015 and is set to release her new album Cry No More next month.

Charismatic blues and R&B guitarist-singer-songwriter Toronzo Cannon was born in the ‘Blues Capital of the World’ Chicago. Although influenced by icons like Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, and Hound Dog Taylor, his blazing guitar sound and soul-baring vocals are all his own. Since the 2016 release The Chicago Way, Cannon has burst onto the international stage as one of the most acclaimed next-generation bluesmen.
