A fresh face on the blues scene, singer and saxophonist Vanessa Collier is quickly making a name for herself. She picked up her sax at age nine and discovered the blues by playing a solo over a blues track two years later. Earning no less than two degrees from Berklee College of Music, Collier released her first album Heart Soul & Saxophone in 2014 and drew comparisons to artists like Tedeschi Trucks Band and Bonnie Raitt. She followed up with Meeting My Shadow in 2017 and her latest album, Honey Up, in 2018. On her albums, Collier mixes up her own compositions with some very interesting cover versions; in the past she has taken on songs by U2 and James Morisson, among others. She weaves funk, soul, rock, and blues into her music, which has resulted in numerous award nominations already.
