Het gratis straatfestival brengt internationaal bluestalent naar diverse podia in de historische wijk. Het festival opent op donderdagavond 17 april in Kura Hulanda Village met een concert van Berget Lewis &amp; Leif de Leeuw Band.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\">Al sinds vorige zomer slaan soulzangeres en vocaal powerhouse Berget Lewis en de bluesrockers van de Leif de Leeuw Band de handen ineen. Het resultaat was een gezamenlijke EP, <i>The Edge<\/i>, en concerten op festivals en in clubs. Lewis staat bekend als een van Nederlands beste zangeressen en heeft al vier albums op haar naam. De Leif de Leeuw Band noemt zichzelf \u2018d\u00e9 southern jamband van Europa\u2019 en haalt haar inspiratie uit the Allman Brothers Band, Little Feat en Derek and the Dominoes.<\/p><p class=\" translation-block\">Altered Five Blues Band is een vijfkoppig bluescollectief dat in 2002 werd opgericht en afkomstig is uit Milwaukee. Sinds hun debuut <i>Bluesified<\/i> uit 2008 heeft de band tot nu toe zes studioalbums opgenomen, waarvan de laatste Holler If You Hear Me uit 2021 stamt. Vorig jaar verscheen hun EP <i>Testifyin\u2019<\/i>.<\/p><p>Zangeres en gitarist Laurie Morvan ontdekte de blues via de muziek van Stevie Ray Vaughan. Met zes goed ontvangen albums op haar naam heeft Morvan een carri\u00e8re opgebouwd in gitaargedreven, rockende blues. Zij en haar Laurie Morvan Band hebben over de hele wereld getourd en kunnen niet wachten om van Cura\u00e7ao de volgende plek op hun tourschema te maken.<\/p><p>Bluesrocker Eric Johanson komt uit Louisiana en keek al jong naar bluesmannen als Freddie King and Robert Johnson. Op zijn laatste album <i>The Deep And The Dirty<\/i> uit 2023 biedt hij \u2018alles van roadhouse rootsrock tot donkere, bluesy Americana\u2019. Het album kwam op nummer 1 binnen in de Billboard Blues Charts. Johanson speelde met uiteenlopende artiesten als the Neville Brothers, JJ Grey en Mike Zito, en op bluesfestivals wereldwijd. <em>The Deep And The Dirty<\/em>, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Charts, Johansen offers \u201ceverything from roadhouse roots-rock to dark, bluesy Americana\u201d. He has performed with varied artists such as the Neville Brothers, JJ Grey and Mike Zito, and at blues festivals around the world.<\/p><p class=\" translation-block\">John N\u00e9meth is een gerespecteerd bluesharmonicaspeler, -zanger en -songwriter met vele Blues Music Awards-nominaties en twaalf albums op zijn naam. Zijn nieuwste studioalbum, <i>May Be The Last Time<\/i>, verscheen in 2022, een jaar later gevolgd door <i>Live From The Fallout Shelter: Celebrating 20 Years<\/i>.<\/p><p class=\" translation-block\">Bluesgitarist en zangeres Sue Foley bracht tot nu toe dertien albums uit en sleepte vele prijzen binnen, waaronder de Blues Music Award voor Traditional Female Artist of the Year, die ze drie keer op rij won. Op haar nieuwste album, het Grammy-genomineerde akoestische <i>One Guitar Woman<\/i> uit 2024, covert en eert Foley vrouwelijke gitaarpioniers als Memphis Minnie, Maybelle Carter en Sister Rosetta Tharpe.<\/p><p class=\" translation-block\">De Amerikaanse elektrische bluesband Rick Estrin &amp; the Nightcats werd in 2008 opgericht. In hun lange geschiedenis van samenspelen heeft de band de wereld rond getoerd, op talloze bluesfestivals opgetreden en links en rechts prijzen gewonnen; als band, voor specifieke nummers en albums, en Rick Estrin als zanger en zijn mondharmonicaspel. Het zesde en laatste album van de band, <i>The Hits Keep Coming<\/i>, kwam uit in 2024.<\/p><p class=\" translation-block\">De 80-jarige Amerikaanse bluesgitarist en zanger John Primer stond op het podium met Junior Wells en sloot zich eind jaren zeventig aan bij Willie Dixons All-Star Band voordat hij in de jaren tachtig naar Muddy Waters overstapte en uiteindelijk speelde met Magic Slim and the Teardrops. Primer begon zijn solocarri\u00e8re in het volgende decennium en maakte indruk met zijn album <i>The Real Deal<\/i> uit 1995. In 2023 werd hij opgenomen in de Blues Hall of Fame.<\/p><p class=\" translation-block\">Blood Brothers is het spannende project van Mike Zito en Albert Castiglia waarmee ze al enkele jaren bij het publiek scoren.
