Cedric Burnside

As the grandson of blues icon R. L. Burnside and the son of blues drummer Calvin Jackson, Cedric Burnside was literally brought up with the genre. By age 13, he was touring with his grandfather’s band as a drummer. Since then, he has expanded his skills to include playing guitar and singing, and has himself become a country hill blues force to be reckoned with. He now has eleven albums to his name, as well as a Grammy for his 2021 album I Be Trying. Three other albums were Grammy-nominated, among which his latest, 2024’s Hill Country Love. Burnside is also a recipient of a National Heritage Fellowship, America’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.
