LOCATION

Although this part of Willemstad used to belong to the upper classes, it became a ghetto during the last decades of the 20th century after a long period of neglect and being sparsely populated. Since the year 2000, however, Pietermaai has undergone a huge transformation when the 200-year old mansions and workers houses, all monuments, started to get renovated and restored to their original state. Now often called the “SoHo” of Curaçao, the new trendy neighborhood is home to numerous idyllic restaurants, hotels, apartments, and suites that are occupied by permanent residents, tourists, and students from all backgrounds.

On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 April 2025, historic Pietermaai District is the place to be for the 7th Curaçao International BlueSeas Festival.
