Her favourite album as a child was by Taj Mahal, and she saw Buddy Guy perform at the mere age of 10. So you could say that the blues found her instead of the other way around, agrees singer and guitar virtuoso Joanna Connor. Playing professionally by age 17, her desire to immerse herself in the blues made her move to Chicago in the 1980s and never look back. She has shared stages with such greats as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, B.B. King and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, among many others. With her own band, she made a slew of albums and toured extensively before taking on residencies at Chicago’s Kingston Mines club and the House of Blues while raising her kids. In 2023, she released her 15^th and latest album Best Of Me.
