Sue Foley

Saturday 19 April

Starting her professional career at the tender age of 16, blues guitarist and singer Sue Foley spent her early years in her native Canada before moving to Austin, Texas. There, she recorded for Antone’s, the esteemed blues label and historic nightclub that helped launch the career of Stevie Ray Vaughan. So far Foley has released thirteen albums and won many awards, including the Blues Music Award for Traditional Female Artist of the Year, which she has won three consecutive times. On her latest album, 2024’s Grammy-nominated acoustic One Guitar Woman, Foley covers and honors female guitar pioneers such as Memphis Minnie, Maybelle Carter, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She used a single guitar to play on the whole record – not her trademark Telecaster named “Pinky”, but a nylon-stringed flamenco guitar.
