D.K. Harrell

Friday 29 March

American blues singer and guitarist D.K. Harrell was a remarkable child: his mother heard him trying to sing along to a B.B. King song at 18 months. It turned to be a precursor for his future, as the blues legend would play a big part in it – and still does. Harrell first picked up the harmonica at age 11, followed by the guitar a few years later. It was then he really started to study the music of B.B. King. Fast forward to 2019, when he got his first paying gig as a musician at a symposium at the B.B. King Museum, where he even got to play The King’s cherished Gibson guitar “Lucille.” Harrell hasn’t slowed down since; he finished third at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2022 and is seen as one of the most promising young blues artists around. His debut album, The Right Man, was released last year to rave reviews.
